Persistent Decrease in Corneal Keratocyte Density

Keratocytes are cells of the corneal which are essential to its health and function. Medical research demonstrates progressive decrease in corneal keratocyte density after LASIK. (1) The implication of decreased keratocyte density after LASIK on long-term health of the cornea requires further study.
