Other Complications

Other risks of LASIK include complications such as infection, retinal tears, retinal detachment, macular holes, macular hemorrhage, optic nerve damage, diffuse lamellar keratitis (DLK), irregular flaps, flap folds and striae (wrinkles), dislocated flaps, excessively thick flaps, button-hole flaps, amputated flap, decentered flaps, epithelial defects, debris under the flap, induced cataracts, and epithelial ingrowth. This is not a complete list. Some complications may be permanent and result in reduced vision or even loss of sight.
